Surface Preparation
Blast clean Mild Steel substrate to minimum Sa 2 ½ of Swedish specification SIS 5900-1967 or near white metal of 1477-1971 (Part-1).
If blast cleaning is impracticable, remove loose rust/scale using power tools/hand tools to achieve surface cleaning of St-3/St - 2 grade to Swedish specification. Remove contaminants like grease and oil using aromatic solvents. Ensure that surface is clean and dry before priming.
Special Instructions Primed surface should not be exposed to corrosive environments for a long time without application of finishing paints.
In case primer coat dries for more than 48 hours, sand papering or primer is essential before application of finishing paints to ensure good inter-coat adhesion.
