Products for Petroleum Industries
Based on our experience, technical data available from National and International sources (papers published by experts in Surface Coating from India and Abroad), the following are our recommended systems for various applications. Essentially, we are in agreement with the overall scheme of things. But, we do not use Epoxy, but we use Epoxy Urethanes or Urethanes.
All finish coats exposed to UV will be Aliphatic Urethanes only. We will be using Ceramic coatings based on silicon carbide or glass flakes. We have considered the following parameters in formulating the system.

Surface Preparation: Manual/Mechanical cleaning to remove loose rust, dust and other muck. Washing with plain water to remove salts of seawater if any.
Coating 1stCoat: One coat off AC Clear (Moisture cured clear, which is the tie coat between substrate and subsequent coat-SSPL/ACC 18).
Coating 2ndCoat: Two coats of Urethane Coal Tar with glass flakes or silicone carbide 100 microns per coat-SSPL/CER COAT.
One coat of Aliphatic PolyUrethane Coal Tar 40 to 50 microns (on exposed surfaces only) - SSPL/-ALF.
Basic Coating System: High build ceramic PolyUrethanes and Aliphatic PolyUrethanes and anti-fouling coatings.
Design Life: 10 Years
Note: In the splash zone area an additional coat of Urethane Coal Tar will be given.
System-1B: On-Location Coating

Coating 3rdCoat: One coat of Urethane Coal Tar with glass flakes or silicone carbide with DFT of 100 microns-SSPL/CER Coat.
One coat of Aliphatic PolyUrethane Coal Tar/Clear, 50 microns DFT-SSPL/ALF.
Coating 4thCoat: Self-polishing antifouling paint 125 to 150 microns (items/units mentioned above except 120 ft from top of rig legs)-SSPL/AF.
Design Life: 5 years

System-2B: On-Location Coating
